Flux Design's owner Jeremy (Sham) has an art show above Swig in the Historical Third Ward, other than Barry whom had a rock show to perform, the rest of the crew were there for support.
I had not been in one of these Gallery Nights for years, and I was around when Gallery Nights were quite sad with tiny galleries scattered in all different locations in early 90's. It is very good to see how it had become and the Art Crawl in Waukesha will turn out to be such as well.
We saw Ren there, my frat sister from Carroll College. She is the art director for Discovery museum and also good friends with the Flux gang, small world, huh? I was there to discuss a show date with Jeremy for Galleria Edge but I think he might have sold half of the show already!
We then walked over the Gallery 218 at its new location. Judith is still running the show. I was invited for the anniversary show in July and I might just have one of old paintings around somewhere. Rachel and I were married in the old location of Gallery 218 on Second Street in 1994. If a gallery is a church for an artist, then what is a more fitting place to get married?
Poor Rich had no coat on and we made him walk all the way to Pfister from there. It got cold in a hurry late at night. The Pfister hotel is quite a swanky place and you should see the spread they had out for Katie. It is a huge table filled with all the chocolate dessert you can imagine with fine service. I promised Rich there will be food at Katie's private party and it is all chocolate and sugar! Lovely meal for a diabetic, for that I apologize.
I really do think the Clark Hotel should take on this concept as well, having a resident artist is supporting the local art scene but also bring in more people. I know just the perfect spot right at the street level west of the front door. Who do I talk to for this idea?
Have you buy a piece of art lately?
By the way, the open house for the grand opening of Waukesha Tattoo Company @ Galleria Edge is May 22nd from 10 to 5, we should have donuts and cookies. From 7-10 is the opening reception for Katie Musolff and Andy Fletcher show, we might have some dessert items out as well. WE can not wait to show you the new space and the future of tattooing in Waukesha.
Will there be a ribbon cutting with the new mayor?
ReplyDeleteYes, I should schedule that with Karen asap!
