After a busy day, I decided to order a late dinner from Magellan's and boy, their Cajun chicken sandwich is so tasty! Next thing I know, Barry and his customer, along with me were treated with a lightning show outside.
The rain was coming down in about three directions and water was flowing down Main like a Rapid. On the way home was also an adventure, I hit at least three flash flood area with my little car. Fresh with reminders from some customer about how driving through flood damaged his truck, I had no choice but kept on going. A We Energy repair truck parked on the road was a strange foreshadowing of what to come.
No power at home, but after hearing a report on the radio about a tornado in Eagle, I was just thankful to come back to a home. Rachel and I changed Georgie the whippet's bandage in the dark with a couple of flashlights, and it was a night of zero technology. No phone, no TV, no Internet, and no blogging. It was a quiet but restful night.
Our prayers go out to the people of Eagle, we are glad to hear everyone is accounted for after the tornado. Rachel knew first hand about that, her home was hit with one when she was a child. There are a lot of things to be thankful and waking up under a roof is something we do take for granted.
( Firefighters came as far a South Milwaukee/ Cudahy to help the people at Eagle because firefighters are awesome. I wish that spirit can carry to the regional political arena...)
