The question is...

WHO HAS THE BEST PIZZA in downtown Waukesha?

I am on a mission...

Rosati's and Magellan's are the ones to beat right now, but Clarke Hotel's is yet to be reviewed.

Pizza war anyone? Perhaps EAT would like to contribute to the debate.

The best burger for me is Taylor's People's Park right now and they are tough to beat at this point. (Yet to try Fuzzy's.)

The best sandwich is Rochester's Deli for sure, I am addicted to the Daily Double. (Unless Crazy Train comes around with the Nacho cheese covered Italian beef.)

The best mango smoothie is Steaming Cup, that is a no-brainer.

The best house wine... Clarke and People's Park both have delicious reds.

The best horchata is at Casa Del Rio.

The best fish fry is Eric's for me.

Best breakfast? Best coffee? Best dessert(Pecan bar from Rochester Deli?...)? Best martini (that lemon thing at Clarke is the front runner right now!)? Yet to be determined.

...but you find the best donuts in Waukesha Tattoo Company @ Galleria Edge on Saturdays! :)

P.S. I think the BID should have the Band of Bloggers form a panel to come up with some reviews or power rankings...

  1. Best breakfast buffet is La Estacion. Or is that considered too far from downtown?

  2. By the way, haven't tried a burger at Taylors yet, but Fuzzy's serves them for breakfast.

  3. La Eastacion does have the best Sunday brunch around. I totally agree!

You would be one of the last people have not try their burger yet. I like Valley burger with sweet potato fries.

  4. I am partial to the Central Park burger, with the Valley burger coming in a close second. I guess it depends on my mood. When its hot outside a nice pint of Bells Oberon and a Vallley Burger hits the spot.

I'd say the edge for best burger goes to Taylors but Fuzzy's burgers are pretty awesome too. I think its the creative ingredients that makes me more partial to Taylors. Also the different fries (sweet potato or pomme frites).

I think if I had to choose from a straight-forward burger with just the basics (cheese, onion, tomato) I'd probably take Fuzzy's.

The only pizza I have had downtown was from Mia's and the long gone T-Rex place. My father-in-law just tried Magellan's and loved it. Gotta check them and Black Trumpet out.

    I am partial to Matteo's.

  5. What is on the LaEstacion buffet that makes it so good? I am always leery of buffet style food unless its someplace like Vegas but if they have a nice variety of stuff on there, count me in!

  6. I actually got into a fight with my wife because she did not want to go to a buffet, now she is a believer....

From watermelon juice to crepe with caramel sauce, you will not be disappointed.

  7. We had the best Father's Day Brunch ever there. My parents were in seventh heaven. We sat outside and enjoyed the food and all of the drink. I can't remember the waiters name, but he was amazing with keeping up with our empty fruit juices and coffees. BTW, they have the coffee with the cinnamon flavors. I know I can do this at home by just adding the cinnamon to the grinds, but it always tastes better when someone else brews it. They have an omelette station along with the drunken pineapple and crepes/waffle station and then you can't miss the shrimp dishes being made to order at the other end. Along with the freshly made tortillas next to the omelette station. I guess you could say G won that argument :-)

I am not a big fan of La Estacion on a daily basis. But their buffet is awesome. I have a theory that they bring in a different chef for their buffets because it is just so much better.

Aside from the crepe station and the special "refrescos" (juices/drinks), there are a couple other things to recommend the buffet:

--They have a tossed salad with strawberries and pine nuts and a lovely strawberry vinagrette.

--The quality of the food is much better. How can I explain this? Everything just tastes fresher, which is surprising for a buffet. The tomato sauces on the enchiladas and the entrees taste like they were made with fresh tomatoes instead of canned. Plus, it seems like there is less salt on the dishes than normal.

Give it a try, at least!
