There are some talks of street closing during Freeman's Friday Night Live for public safety. I do hope there will be detour signs to direct people to come in from the West End of Main Street instead.
The easiest way to downtown Waukesha is really through the West End. All you need to do is take HWY F straight south, pass all the STOP LIGHTS, cross the river, and make a left on the STOP SIGN.
There are usually street parking at the beautiful West End, but that is a secret for people who knows. :)
All I can say is when I moved to Waukesha 5 years ago the notion of closing down streets because there were too many pedestrians downtown would have seemed completely crazy.
ReplyDeleteIts a great problem to have, but I just don't really care for the idea of shutting down streets because it may end up harming some merchants that aren't on the closed streets. When the Art Crawl closed down part of Main Street it almost acted as an artifical barrier, as if to say "The actual event is only in the areas where the streets are closed" even if that is not the intent.
Does anyone else think that it's odd that they allowed this guy to set up a band in the street in the first place? The crowd gets to big and they actually close the street around the band, possible harming others in the downtown. Who does this guy know at city hall?
