The morning started with me going to pick up donuts for our team for Riverwalk for breast cancer, the donuts from La Estrella is always a hit. As the team gathered, we all wore our pink shirt proudly and we marched down to Frame Park.
The park was a sea of pink and it is such a good annual event for Waukesha. I saw Alisha from
Pat's Rib Place there supporting the cause with their own team. I think Mayor Scrima was there for second year in a row from the
Patch photo. We walked through the Farmer's Market with our own creative route and I was eying the array of baked goods a little bit. The new Art Crawl banners were everywhere and I think they are awesome.
Chelsea from
Marillian Massage was waiting for us when we returned, and we started to do our pink ribbon tattoos to raise more money for Waukesha Memorial. It was not as busy as Diva Day but we do have four artists instead of two. We should have a nice amount half way between our goal and what we raise for Diva Day to present sometime next week.
Shay was doing face and body painting all day as well, kids love her; do look for her out by the Five Point when FFNL starts in June. She had reached an agreement with D Mo's to be either out there by them or in the coming gallery space in case of rain.
I was even able to sneak a massage in for myself and Chelsea said my calf is so tight that it was like I wear high heel all the time or something... let's not spread that rumor...
Alisha stopped in to look at the shop for the first time and we are always happy to have celebrity in our place! I am really trying to talk her into expanding Pat's Rib Place. The food is so darn good there that people flew in from out of state for take-outs...
Amelia came later for her Tattooed Lady book signing. We had a member of the Common Council showed up just for that. I did hear an unverified rumor from a prominent blogger that
Spontaneous Galley was visited by a different Council member and shut down for too many nipples... ;) Do go check the place out, there are indeed a lot of kool exotic art in there. (Mr. Nipple-Gate did stopped by for his donuts as well...)
Peggy from Carroll U. stopped in to talk about the next show of Carroll faculty and students at Galleria Edge. The opening reception is now set at June 11th. Not an Art Crawl day but we do hope the art community will come and forge an even stronger bond with the University. A lot of things are in works and I do see great things for Waukesha with this greater partnership.
We did our first trial run with D Mo's Pita and Pan catering the event, and I think the big spread was a hit and to be able to sit and have a beer talking art or whatever was also nice. We had tons of who's who in Waukesha graced us for Art Crawl, even some members of the Waukesha Royal Family...
Ronsta and I talked briefly about the bike rack project, I do have a concept in mind now and I think once the detail of the funding become clear, we will be one of the first business to have custom bike racks out there for the ever-growing bike community.
Chase, who runs the new
pedicab start up seen on Main Street were also there with his partner. I think they are a wonderful and fun addition to the scene and I do look forward to see them up and down the street during street events!
Did I miss anything or anyone? Thanks to everyone for coming and the whole WTC team helping out; Wren the artist was very happy with the turnout. I think it was a good introduction for D Mo's Pita and Pan for their food catering. It was a good day for us and a good day for Waukesha, sometime that is more precious than one realize...
(Mother's Day brunch at D Mo's is happening today! Foodie dinner was planned last night but it might be pushed back a week... there are some REALLY exotic stuff on the list. )
