1.25.12

Mr. Otto can't come back to active blogging in a better time... and the debate raged on elsewhere in cyberspace... Darryl threw in his two cents, while Meghan realized her job is in a lose-lose situation to keep all the BID happy. (I had witnessed when arrows were shooting at Karen from the pro street closing side and ultimately cost her job.)

Eat did have a great point from the comments yesterday, did the street closing regulation argument get hijacked and redirected to FFNL killing or is that the true agenda? Did the unsolicited big binder of sample regulation backfired? Yet this mayoral committee is also a questionable mix... No one is playing fair but accuse each other of playing dirty.

(One is truly one's own worst enemy at times, and giving bulletin board material to your opponent is just not a smart move for the rest of your team...)

Sometime I try to take a step back and remind myself that people outside of downtown don't really give a darn about all the political fist fights, they just want to have a beer and listen to music...

Speaking of music, do you know Love Monkeys was holding audition at Bodway's on last Sunday and Monday? For more detail, please read today's police blotter...

Last night was also the county wide homeless people count, I was told in summer there could be up to 200 people on the street or in shelters... I am thankful for the roof over my head...

History lesson 7 of 10 and extra story...

Kinda a big deal...

Gregg's column.

Bye-bye, Prince.

POLICE BLOTTER-Hey, I like my $1.17! ;)

  1. The situation with threats to Meghan is absolutely unacceptable. I am glad she addressed it immediately, with her board and publicly. What is it with people treating the BID directors like crap? Did they threaten the male directors too, or just the women? There is a real problem in Waukesha with people throwing their weight around and threatening people's jobs. It has to stop.

  2. I think the rest of the female staff resigned or quit too with Karen, right?

  3. I think they should trace the IP addresses of whoever sent the threats. I would be very interested in seeing who sent them.

Karen did a great job and it was disgusting how she was treated so poorly that she was forced to resign. It is telling that there have been 4 different BID directors over the past decade.

  4. I think the threats were made in person, to her face. She responded via email to her board, but she knows (and presumably witnesses do, too) who the people are. The board president should address this with the people directly and immediately.

  5. BID is for the whole downtown, and I hope the board is mindful of that. Karen got in trouble because she was seen as being close to one side, and at one point said BID is not for street closing. Meghan has her work cut out for her because it is hard to balance all the wishes of different groups.

  6. Further more, similar pattern had happened in the city hall regarding Lori, and this is the political culture we have.
