The whole threat to Meghan thing is getting a lot of buzz. Lynn G. went on record with me to say she did not threaten her and was in her selection committee. Freeman said Norm and Meghan met with Mayor Scrima, some said because he is an expert in hostile working environment... The mystery remains because there were two people from the pro street closing camp doing the threatening I was told... The City Key holders rumor is yet to be proven.
Lynn also told me more about the guitar project. She assured me the big guitars are going to be permanent fixtures of downtown. I asked about the New Day Fund and I was told Mayor Scrima does not have to disclose anything because it is not non-profit. She will be happy to take some money from the New Day Fund, I said the money will come with political baggage. I guess now I know my guess few days ago was right...
I do need to thank Man on the Street for bringing me some chicken noodle soup mix, you will know soon what is going on in my private life and I needed some chicken soup for the soul more than you know...
History Lesson 9 of 10
453 project is also on its way, the inside is getting torn apart, the latest idea someone suggested is Wedding Chapel... I do have an Elvis suit.
Someone also told me there were a Waukesha sighting of Chef with Many Names, he was telling people HE is remodeling D Mo's in Clarke Hotel and will open back up soon... Can't wait (to get in line to collect the debt.)
Sorry for a rather short entry this morning, "life" happens.
The City should examine "back in" angle parking along W. Main on a trial basis. Its extremely safe since cars pull into traffic and can see cars and bikes as opposed to traditional angle parking. Maybe do a trial of it on the West End. Here are is some info on it:

I would guess the lines will be painted 180 degree from current angle, right?
DeleteStill, a turn around area is still needed. I was thinking about third ward and how they have parking in the middle of the road, any thoughts on that?
I don't understand why Kendal Lofts didn't design their building with enough parking to cover the amount of people in their building plus guests. Do you see other apartment complexes in the area asking for street parking? I don't!
ReplyDeleteAnother way to solve the lack of spaces in downtown - hey business owners - STOP PARKING IN FRONT OF YOUR OWN SHOP! (This doesn't go for all of you, but I know some that do.) If you are going to be quick that's fine, but seriously, parking in a prime spot and moving one spot over when your time limit is up, is just ridiculous. And employees of businesses in downtown - this goes for you too! Get someone to walk you to your car at night if you aren't close enough or worried, but there is no need to park in a prime spot that a paying customer could park in!
Are we not thinking of using the structure on South Street? I don't get why people can't just walk a little bit to get where they need to be versus risking people or property getting damaged with the TIGHT ANGLED PARKING. I never have a problem finding parking in downtown and I don't expect to park right in front of where I am going. Downtown is not that big. You don't get to park next to Home Plate at Miller Park - you usually have a decent amount of walking to get to that event. Same goes for other summer events and festivals. Parking lots for bars/restaurants in downtown Milwaukee is almost unheard of. You drive around the area until you find a spot and then you walk. It's life.
Sorry for the rant, but this is just seeming ridiculous to me. Am I way off?
I am frustrated that the power to be will not tackle the real parking issue but be an ENABLER to the parking game. Adding more parking spaces does not change the game but feed to the same monster, it will not be enough ever.
