The Waukesha city administrator is now being discussed to not fund in 2012.

Oh, boy...

Waukesha Patch
The Waukesha Common Council has voted 9 to 6 to remove four furlough days from the city's 2012 budget, means the motion is not veto proof.

Oh, drama!

WE need HELP!

$68,453.00 of the bell ringing goal has been raised as of today. We are $5948.00 behind last year, so if you know Volunteers who will ring please enlist them and maybe even let them know you will help for a portion of a shift. Kettle Club buttons are now on sale for a donation of $5 or more. Why not take up a collection from your friends and deliver their buttons to them. (No Door to Door in the neighborhoods, please!!!)

K-Love Radio will ring and give away concert tickets, Christmas candy, and CD's at Muskego PnS on Thur Dec 8 from 4 p - 6 p
and at Sentry in Delafield on Friday Dec 9 from 4 p - 6 p. That's two great events, what else can we get going in order to reach the George Wang purple challenge.

The Salvation Army

I think we need to get Carroll U. involved... Come on, President Doug, time for you to join the purple challenge!!!

11.19.11

If you start hearing about Poppin On Broadway on WKLH, it is all about the crew including my old friends at Dave and Carole morning show are just addicted to those delicious popcorn! We do have a rising networking star in the making in Kathy...

The new Italian place is rumored to be open in early December. I was told the old wall at the entrance is replaced with glass window and door. The owners had been painting and working hard on the inside.

I was also told the Carroll Bike Racks Project are still in process; perhaps when the new racks are all installed around the campus, downtown will start to get all the old ones on loan.

Detail is also being firmed up about the WTC birthday party. This year we will be at Bodway's listening to Lonely Hearts. Save your date on 12.9 after 9pm.

Magellan's will once again cater our Art Crawl reception, pizza and beer were a big hit last time.

Barry's Daisy Chain band will play at Potawatomi on 12.8.11, I sure hope my trip there will not mean too much "donation".

Tree lighting and red kettle kick off

It is just about to start... Hurry if you want to be there for this special downtown event!

A date with Santa

Little elf told me that Santa will be at the West End for free pictures. This will happen before the Christmas Parade on 11-20-11 from 1pm to 2:30pm.

Leticia is hosting this event at 439 W. Main St., I did not know she is tight with Santa, I had not gotten anything nice from him for a long, long time which I will go and confront him about it.

If you have any question, please call her at 262-542-9695, you can ask her for insurance questions too...

11.18.11

Saw both HBR and PBR last night around town, so were the Danger Girls. The rumor is that a certain friend with great city hall experience might be the pinch hitter of choice to cover the budget meeting next week for Freeman, stay tuned...

We are happy to announce that Moxie and us will both be in Silver Bell this year as co-Gold sponsor... Far West End will be represented.

Tree lighting and Bikesha are both tonight! It will be the official kick off of the Waukesha Salvation Red Kettle campaign as well as we drive toward purple hair for the Majors. You can find mini kettles through out downtown Waukesha.

Congrats! (I remember Sherry when I was at the other side of Pix in the early 90s.)

Darn the 1%!!!

58 trees saved.

From Allo! Chocolat

Happy Thanksgiving fellow Chocolate Lovers,

Wow! In just a few days (this Sunday, 11/20) Waukesha will host the 49th Annual Christmas Parade. This great family event steps off at 4:00pm with Marching Bands, Floats, Dance Teams and Santa. Santa’s Post Office Elves will collect letters from children to Santa along the route. This year the theme of the Christmas parade is “Candy Canes on Main” so our special parade treats are Peppermint Truffle Pops, Candy Cane Marshmallow Pops and Peppermint Bark Chocolate Bars, Chocolate Dipped Candy Canes as well as Old Fashioned Classic Candy Canes. Of course we will have an abundance of our special recipe Gourmet Hot Chocolate and our decadent Sipping Chocolat to warm your tummies! Our parade day hours will be noon until 6:00PM.

We’ve been told that Wisconsin Vision will have a float in the parade this year and Danny Gokey will be performing on it! Be sure to take a Holiday Stroll through the downtown from 12-4PM to enjoy the beautiful window displays at all the local businesses. Photos with Santa will be available on parade day at Martha Merrell’s/Cuddle’s from 12-3pm, as well as on Saturdays until Christmas. Please call 547-1060 for more information.

The Waukesha Old Fashioned Christmas Tree Lighting will take place this Friday, Nov 18th at 6PM in front of the Rotunda (235 W Broadway). Get into the festive spirit with music and caroling. This event officially kicks off the Waukesha Downtown Business Association’s Silver Bells season of events. Come and join Alderman Roger Patton in counting down to the start of the season! The Salvation Army will be on hand to accept non perishable food items and cash donations….please come prepared to give…thanks!

During Silver Bells you can take a horse drawn carriage ride on Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons through downtown Waukesha, listen to carolers, enjoy the lights, the music, stroll through the shops for holiday gifts, vote on the best decorated non profit gingerbread house and enjoy specials throughout the downtown. Want to participate? Why don’t you get a group gathered to go caroling on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays during the month of December. Call Kerry (262-522-3605) at The Steaming Cup for more caroling information. This event is being used to raise money for NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness). Last year $1500 was raised for our downtown neighbor, Art Links!

Silver Bells will also host the 3rd annual Santa Run on Sat 12/10. Sign up for this fun run/walk at http://www.active.com/running/waukesha-wi/waukesha-historic-downtown-santa-run-2011 Come dressed as Santa, Mrs. Santa, an elf, a reindeer, the Grinch or just wear red and green, but come and run, walk or just watch….it’s a blast!

The final Art Crawl of 2012 takes place on Saturday December 3rd. It begins at 4 PM and goes until 10 PM and we’ll be open! This is the 69th art crawl in downtown Waukesha. It will be a great evening to pick up some unique Christmas gifts in the art galleries as well as the other shops in our downtown. Our special Art Crawl treat will be a Candy Cane Truffle.

As you see, there is a lot going on this month, but some of you may want to know what is new in our store?

Well the Allô! Chocolat elves have been really busy preparing the shop for the holiday season. The decorations are up and are a fun sight to see! We have a number of festive treats for your pleasure as well. We do carry Advent (Christmas countdown) calendars. Each day a new window is opened to a delicious chocolate treat…mmmm! Our current Sweet of the Week is Cranberry Walnut Bark and next week will be our Pumpkin Spice Truffles. Both are discounted 25%. Other new items include a Firefighter Set mold and chocolate dipped Fortune Cookies that are packaged in a Chinese take out pail….really cute!

This is the last week for Caramel Apples. If you have a specific favorite you might want to call ahead to make sure we have it for you! We will be closing down our ice cream freezer for the season after the Art Crawl. As a special treat for our newsletter readers, if you mention this offer you will get a 50% discount on any ice cream purchase!

We also have been busy packing boxes for many businesses who wish to say THANK YOU with chocolate this year to their employees and cherished clients. It’s not too late to get those orders in, but we’d appreciate large orders sooner than later.

Our store hours will expand beginning Friday, November 25th. We will be open Mon-Fri 10AM to 8PM, Sat 10-5 and Sundays 12-4. We will be closed on Thanksgiving as we spend time with our family.

Don’t forget that Saint Nickolas Eve is December 5th for those of you who observe that tradition with your children. If you don’t, you should….it’s a fun holiday. If you have no clue what we’re talking about, stop in and ask or Google it up!

Even though we are gearing up for Christmas, it is still November and Thanksgiving is next week! Don’t forget to pick up some Thanksgiving treats to sweeten your table. We still have a selection of Foiled Turkeys in various sizes, Chocolate Pilgrim molded suckers, Harvest Bark (walnuts, cherries and orange peels) and other fall colored candies, candy corn, juju be, pumpkins and gummi pumpkins. Also an assortment of Thanksgiving decorated dipped items (Oreos, marshmallow men, pretzels, etc) Of course, truffles are a popular dessert item for Thanksgiving.

November is a good month to reflect on everything we are thankful for in our lives. We hope you enjoy your time with family and friends around the table and keep our military in your prayers as we give thanks for the Freedoms they preserve. We salute the brave men and women of our Armed Forces and say thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! Without our valued customers, we wouldn’t be able to do what we love to do….we thank you for your continued support of Allô! Chocolat.

Blessings,

Carrie and Roger

The Past Attacking Tax Raisers are not listening to the coach!

Patch's take.

JS's take.

Only if the coach can make up his mind on which team he is on... So confusing, isn't it? Perhaps there will be another Guest Opinion in Freeman to explain this and give us another catch phrase...

The Christmas Parade is when the whole Waukesha come together... It is like missing the Super Bowl...

Ex-landmark update.

There were an owl in my woods but that is a while ago.

Day of Caring

President Doug spoke again in this annual event. I am proud to represent the downtown merchant /Carroll grad...

I was actually the last guy out, had a great conversation with Alderman Patton and his sheephead partners... No wonder he is HBR's favorite...

Bodway tagged

I can not figure out what it is, could be two tagger signs.

As a crime, I hope there is a nice police video footage to track.

It happened while we were in there enjoying our burgers...

11.16.11

Wiggy and the Jedi Council, stop "attacking the past". Coach Scrima has spoken. You are all a bunch of Tax-Raisers and a fee is not a tax...

I did not know Wiggy is a pinko lefty liberal ... Shame! Shame! Shame! ( Oh, wait, does that means I am a Past Attacking Tax-Raiser too? I am so confused. Who is going to pay my shrink bill for this identity crisis? ) ;)

HBR clarifies what this all means... The streets sayz.

WackySha is in full force... more, more, and more...

Wild Wild City Hall...

Tree lighting and Red Kettle kick off is this Friday at 6 pm!

Darryl shows us some love...

POLICE BLOTTER-I did not know Favre signed with Da Bears...

The West End apartment project seems to be on track still. Word on the street is that Ken was actually seeking TIF fund despite whatever Mayor Scrima was saying but no TIF fund was left to be had, but a deal with the bank had been worked out and he will likely present again in December. ( Yes, another episode of Confused by the Mayor...)

There is also some drama still on BID appointments and election but I am gonna stay neutral on that one... It is all about Street Closing and FFNL.

The world will end in 12 month anyway... We are used to the gloom and doom in the USA already.

Party on!

Free Tattoo?

Yes, there will be free tattoos given out during Waukesha Christmas Parade this Sunday... Free temporary tattoos from Waukesha Salvation Army that is...

I think it will be a potluck WTC party as well, do come by and say hi.

11.15.11

Kodiak Kid posted a question to me that I could not answer: Who has the best chili in Waukesha? I know I had Dave's chili years ago and it was pretty good, and that is about it. Perhaps fellow foodies and/or Wiggy with his family of chili experts will help with an answer. I know the place with most interesting selection of soups is Rochester Deli or I'll go to Casa Del Rio for their beef soup.

From Patch: “You continue to attack the past to create a distraction,” Scrima said. Hey, doesn't it sound just like the SOUND OFF the other day with Wiggy?"All Wigderson does is attack the past and find problems." Does it mean our mayor is vigorously using the media to attack his opponents anonymously? Taking a page out of this game plan with a negative twist? Chinese has a saying that the person to take off the bell of a tiger's collar is the person who put it there, and Mayor Scrima, this is your bell/mess.

(Wiggy, it is more appropriate for a WiggySha/ ATTACK THE PAST t-shirt than a WackySha one...)

Freeman's take.

SOUND OFF- Coach Scrima... Really? Wow, who writes this stuff!?

Not into the whole recall thing either way, but it is another NEW DAY! I think it will be more popular with young voters if you call it Breaking Dawn...

It is in the Freeman, the challenge is on!

Green to the end...

40 years! Congrats...

Brien on the disposable printers... Laptop too is heading that way with a $198 one I saw the other day.

Don't forget that Bikesha is coming up soon.

I had an omelet for lunch yesterday, and I pray Mr. HBR was not hiding in the kitchen for good reason... (Inside joke)

There is also rumors that some hot and heavy action happened in the men's room of Bosco's, apparently they thought they were in the Frame Park public bathroom... Well, I was told... Don't tap my shoes, dude...

Someone also asked me about what is going on with the former Three Sisters spot, I have no clue, does anyone out there know?

Chili cookoff

This event was a fun community charity fundraiser to sample many chili in five catagories from mild, hot, vegetarian, white and wild game.

Wiggy and Doreen were great company and we had a great time.

I must say that we will try to make it again next year, and we will have a better system of trying everything...

A few of my favorites did win, so my taste bud were not too off...

11.12.11

It was a honorable day at the West End.

OOPS...

Happy retirement, Mr. Hoeft.

Wiggy came up with the idea, now we have to get the word out for the Red Kettle campaign.

SOUND OFF-I do see Wiggy gain a new fan. Wiggy, you need to stop reminding people that this whole budget thing is not about the whole Walker-Union thing, it is just another episode of Desperate City Mayor.

POLICE BLOTTER-When is a woman trying to sell a cat a crime? Oh, wait, is this what I think it is???!!!

A conspiracy theory...

Do they have a conceal carry class? I need to find one for me and Ms.Kool.

How to protest, Colombian way.

Can't wait for the chili tomorrow...

11.11.11

Last night was a impromptu celebration for Chelsea's birthday. Chelsea is our newest team member as a talented massage therapist working on Thursdays. Most of the crew were going to have a Bodway burger anyway but we sure did give Cory aka Waldo, Tony B. and Chef Nate a challenge as it was a crazy busy night for a Thursday.

We then went over to Nice Ash and had a great time sitting in those big leather lounge chairs in the front. It is a great nightlife experience in downtown Waukesha and apparently fellow blogger and Carroll grad Sarah Z. had the same itinerary for the night to enjoy a relaxing night out with friends. This is an important component of what makes Waukesha great, and young professionals are taking notice.

As a business man and a property owner, the question will be what to do to add on to this culture and bring another level of luxury or comfort into it. All eyes will be on the transformation of Clarke Hotel, re-opening of People's Park, and the West End apartment project...

( Walking down Main, I also noticed Mango is now at where H & R Block used to be... Good call. )

Okay, back to the drama in progress. If the mayor is listening to the people, shouldn't all of this be avoided by communication earlier in the budget process? This last minute stuff is really getting old. People might get an impression that our city government is not running efficiently and smoothly...

Honor flight is awesome and one should give thanks and experience the welcoming at the airport at least once...

Congrats! Big color photo of HBR on Friday Freeman is a thing now.

POLICE BLOTTER-Apparently the coffee was not strong enough...

I usually do not link murder stuff but this one touched me as I tattooed one of the victim's friend a year ago. I do not know if this news brings any comfort to the family but I was honored to be a part of the healing process.

Max bonus for M.H.?

United Way needs you.

Mr. Bodway reminded me that Breakfast burger (my favorite Bodway burger) is coming back on Sundays and Sundays only, but I have a date with some hot chili at Wales already...

Darryl stopped in to ask about my Angry Asian Man rant the other day... Well, I was not the only one who is angry in downtown Waukesha... In the end of the day, I am sitting with a group of friends I trust and they trust back, and that means something.

Speaking of Angry Asian Man, here is some rap and some wiki. I am learning something new too. No worries, I do not read that much and I misplace my cell phone and keys all the time.
