Thank you for reading my little blog and spend the morning with me. There are a lot of things to be thankful even in this very trying year.
In the end, it is the little things, isn't it? A friendly bartender/waitress, a home to go to, someone who loves you, a job you enjoy, a few delightful meals, or a good honest conversation and a few laughs ...
Thank you. ( and don't forget to drop some of your spare coins in the Red Kettles, there are real good need to be done in the world.)

I like to thank all for coming in to say hi during the Christmas parade. Salvation Army raised decent money and gave out more than expected amount of hot chocolate. Chicken curry was all gone by the end of the night, and Kelly even made some delicious strawberry cake...
The "purple campaign" still needs your help, don't be shy when you walk by one of those red kettles... (Thanks for the plug! Erik.)
Patch's coverage. Wiggy's coverage.
By the way, happy belated birthday to Wiggy! That flan is worth it, even if you have to wear a funny hat to eat it.

The new Italian place is rumored to be open in early December. I was told the old wall at the entrance is replaced with glass window and door. The owners had been painting and working hard on the inside.
I was also told the Carroll Bike Racks Project are still in process; perhaps when the new racks are all installed around the campus, downtown will start to get all the old ones on loan.
Detail is also being firmed up about the WTC birthday party. This year we will be at Bodway's listening to Lonely Hearts. Save your date on 12.9 after 9pm.
Magellan's will once again cater our Art Crawl reception, pizza and beer were a big hit last time.
Barry's Daisy Chain band will play at Potawatomi on 12.8.11, I sure hope my trip there will not mean too much "donation".
Detail report on the tree lighting. Ms. Kool showed up after I went back to work...

From Allo! Chocolat
Happy Thanksgiving fellow Chocolate Lovers,
Wow! In just a few days (this Sunday, 11/20) Waukesha will host the 49th Annual Christmas Parade. This great family event steps off at 4:00pm with Marching Bands, Floats, Dance Teams and Santa. Santa’s Post Office Elves will collect letters from children to Santa along the route. This year the theme of the Christmas parade is “Candy Canes on Main” so our special parade treats are Peppermint Truffle Pops, Candy Cane Marshmallow Pops and Peppermint Bark Chocolate Bars, Chocolate Dipped Candy Canes as well as Old Fashioned Classic Candy Canes. Of course we will have an abundance of our special recipe Gourmet Hot Chocolate and our decadent Sipping Chocolat to warm your tummies! Our parade day hours will be noon until 6:00PM.
We’ve been told that Wisconsin Vision will have a float in the parade this year and Danny Gokey will be performing on it! Be sure to take a Holiday Stroll through the downtown from 12-4PM to enjoy the beautiful window displays at all the local businesses. Photos with Santa will be available on parade day at Martha Merrell’s/Cuddle’s from 12-3pm, as well as on Saturdays until Christmas. Please call 547-1060 for more information.
The Waukesha Old Fashioned Christmas Tree Lighting will take place this Friday, Nov 18th at 6PM in front of the Rotunda (235 W Broadway). Get into the festive spirit with music and caroling. This event officially kicks off the Waukesha Downtown Business Association’s Silver Bells season of events. Come and join Alderman Roger Patton in counting down to the start of the season! The Salvation Army will be on hand to accept non perishable food items and cash donations….please come prepared to give…thanks!
During Silver Bells you can take a horse drawn carriage ride on Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons through downtown Waukesha, listen to carolers, enjoy the lights, the music, stroll through the shops for holiday gifts, vote on the best decorated non profit gingerbread house and enjoy specials throughout the downtown. Want to participate? Why don’t you get a group gathered to go caroling on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays during the month of December. Call Kerry (262-522-3605) at The Steaming Cup for more caroling information. This event is being used to raise money for NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness). Last year $1500 was raised for our downtown neighbor, Art Links!
Silver Bells will also host the 3rd annual Santa Run on Sat 12/10. Sign up for this fun run/walk at http://www.active.com/running/waukesha-wi/waukesha-historic-downtown-santa-run-2011 Come dressed as Santa, Mrs. Santa, an elf, a reindeer, the Grinch or just wear red and green, but come and run, walk or just watch….it’s a blast!
The final Art Crawl of 2012 takes place on Saturday December 3rd. It begins at 4 PM and goes until 10 PM and we’ll be open! This is the 69th art crawl in downtown Waukesha. It will be a great evening to pick up some unique Christmas gifts in the art galleries as well as the other shops in our downtown. Our special Art Crawl treat will be a Candy Cane Truffle.
As you see, there is a lot going on this month, but some of you may want to know what is new in our store?
Well the Allô! Chocolat elves have been really busy preparing the shop for the holiday season. The decorations are up and are a fun sight to see! We have a number of festive treats for your pleasure as well. We do carry Advent (Christmas countdown) calendars. Each day a new window is opened to a delicious chocolate treat…mmmm! Our current Sweet of the Week is Cranberry Walnut Bark and next week will be our Pumpkin Spice Truffles. Both are discounted 25%. Other new items include a Firefighter Set mold and chocolate dipped Fortune Cookies that are packaged in a Chinese take out pail….really cute!
This is the last week for Caramel Apples. If you have a specific favorite you might want to call ahead to make sure we have it for you! We will be closing down our ice cream freezer for the season after the Art Crawl. As a special treat for our newsletter readers, if you mention this offer you will get a 50% discount on any ice cream purchase!
We also have been busy packing boxes for many businesses who wish to say THANK YOU with chocolate this year to their employees and cherished clients. It’s not too late to get those orders in, but we’d appreciate large orders sooner than later.
Our store hours will expand beginning Friday, November 25th. We will be open Mon-Fri 10AM to 8PM, Sat 10-5 and Sundays 12-4. We will be closed on Thanksgiving as we spend time with our family.
Don’t forget that Saint Nickolas Eve is December 5th for those of you who observe that tradition with your children. If you don’t, you should….it’s a fun holiday. If you have no clue what we’re talking about, stop in and ask or Google it up!
Even though we are gearing up for Christmas, it is still November and Thanksgiving is next week! Don’t forget to pick up some Thanksgiving treats to sweeten your table. We still have a selection of Foiled Turkeys in various sizes, Chocolate Pilgrim molded suckers, Harvest Bark (walnuts, cherries and orange peels) and other fall colored candies, candy corn, juju be, pumpkins and gummi pumpkins. Also an assortment of Thanksgiving decorated dipped items (Oreos, marshmallow men, pretzels, etc) Of course, truffles are a popular dessert item for Thanksgiving.
November is a good month to reflect on everything we are thankful for in our lives. We hope you enjoy your time with family and friends around the table and keep our military in your prayers as we give thanks for the Freedoms they preserve. We salute the brave men and women of our Armed Forces and say thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! Without our valued customers, we wouldn’t be able to do what we love to do….we thank you for your continued support of Allô! Chocolat.
Blessings,
Carrie and Roger

Only if the coach can make up his mind on which team he is on... So confusing, isn't it? Perhaps there will be another Guest Opinion in Freeman to explain this and give us another catch phrase...

From Patch: “You continue to attack the past to create a distraction,” Scrima said. Hey, doesn't it sound just like the SOUND OFF the other day with Wiggy?"All Wigderson does is attack the past and find problems." Does it mean our mayor is vigorously using the media to attack his opponents anonymously? Taking a page out of this game plan with a negative twist? Chinese has a saying that the person to take off the bell of a tiger's collar is the person who put it there, and Mayor Scrima, this is your bell/mess.
(Wiggy, it is more appropriate for a WiggySha/ ATTACK THE PAST t-shirt than a WackySha one...)
