Breaking news

Danger Girls tried to take over WTC and we punished Mr. Nipple Gate for such a mis-calculated mover...;)

Chef Nate's last day at Bodway's is tonight...

Yanke Saloon is also done tonight as street rumor has it. Everything is a dollar to clear out the liquor inventory and Fuzzy's will be taking over and redo everything inside as the rumor said.

Have a great weekend...

6.29.12

I had been sitting on this street news/rumor for a while but it does appear there will be a new pub and grill at the West End replacing an existing one. That rain check between Eat and I might just has to remain as such. As a fellow West Ender, we do wish the out going owner best of luck and the new one the same. (M.H. is going to be super disappointed.)

BID also hinted there will be a new biz going in at the former Serendipity site.

yup, there is a new business coming! No official word yet on what it will be, but we'll keep you updated!

WFFNL is tonight.

6.28.12

This is just crazy. I was just talking to a customer about how his family had to rush out of Pikes Peak because a small fire started and now it is out of control. I think my former H.S. English teacher lives in that canyon... Air Force Academy is just minutes from my high school...

What can rain barrel do when there is no rain...

Let's pick Darryl and save some money for Harvard tuition...

How about that beer date with Mayor Scrima?

We are fans...

History Lesson 3 of 5.

Some like it dirty...

Brien's new entry.

Danger Girls and Moxie girls started an Occupy WTC movement last night... Barry and I will be seeing a lot of Mr. Nipple Gate this weekend...

Last weekend the crew visited Meiji for sushi. There were some pretty interesting, tasty and beautiful creations served like Big Mac and Yummy roll. The lounge is actually pretty nice in there and the crew liked Kelly's idea of Sake and Plum wine mixed.

I was at work all Sunday as the race went by, but Ms. Kool and I did have a nice dinner at Peking House. It was a nice contrast with Meiji but that is a trend with a bigger space and more diverse tastes as Asian Fusion versus a specialized place with two menus...

Moxie Girls were just talking about the trend in Men's haircut space...

SOUND OFF- Wiggy has new fan, or is it from the Mayor's editing room? ( The writing style seems quite familiar...)

POLICE BLOTTER Super-sized.

Congrats to HBR!!! New family addition! I guess he is NOT the dude?

Have a great day! Go out and enjoy this weather!

6.23.12

Downtown seemed to be pretty packed last night. We could not get into Bodway's or Magellan's for dinner at 9:30 pm so we ended up at back of the Gen 5 just before the kitchen closed. ( Not that we are complaining... ) I was given a peek of the kitchen and it is bigger than I thought.

I did not make it yet... maybe Sunday along with the bike race...

Please rain after midnight...

WHOA, all for $1?

Coming up next week...

Huh?

Street closure.

What am I doing that day??? ( but is my game good enough?)

Two seek the council seat.

This is kool...

I need some of these!

Hmmm...

Have a nice weekend... I will leave you with these...

UPDATE:

This is kinda a shock. I used her service before and I do think she is well liked in town. It is what it is... Sucks for the customers :(

6.22.12

I was at Bodway's having my dinner, Chef Nate and I were talking about how Rumor Mill works in Waukesha. It was American Tattoo that closed, not WTC. It was Cory who move to California, not Nate, and no, I am still alive...

Leave the drama behind, let's go with Racine or Oak Creek.

Change in command.

This is kool... ( Kodiak Kid, time to visit Waukesha...)

Too much information...

Painting with light...

Sign them up for Jazz in Cutler Park!

Walking statue...

Solutions for hot weather...

WFFNL is tonight, see you out here!!!

6.21.12

I went to the BID/WCBA mixer at Jazz in Cutler Park last night after work, the music just started but most people had left. Barry joined me later and then the Moxie girls came. The event organizer really should consider having soda and beer to sell and they would add a lot of money to the scholarship fund; Meghan said the demand was there.

Dawn from Riverwalk for Breast Cancer also stopped at the shop earlier to drop off a nice certificate, I guess WTC was the top small business fundraising team. We are very proud of that and we have a great team and wonderful support group, and the honor is to be share with all.

SOUND OFF (Note that Editor's comment.)

Here comes the next Scri-Drama.

The ongoing Scri-Drama aftermath... and the one we really need to pay attention to. The mini vacation is over, the drama season will start again...

Wren (Renee Bach) who did the Les Paul display at the Discovery museum, said Les was a pack rat. He had lots and lots of stuff in duplicated but the trick is to go through them to find what is valuable and what is not.

Good day to hang around downtown...

Wiggy the betting man.

Wow...

Hmmm...

This is so crazy but a little NSFW...

A shout out to Danger Girl 2, we hope a speedy recovery from the most unfortunate incident.

Sorry for a short post, crazy day today...

From BID

Dear BID Stakeholders:

As a reminder, tonight is our After 5 event in partnership with the Waukesha County Business Alliance. The event will be held at Cutler Park as a kick-off to the Jazz at Cutler Park. With support from Hippenmeyer, Moodie, Reilly & Blum S.C., Magellans, Waukesha State Bank, and Waukesha Tattoo Company, the event will be under a tent and will include free food, beer, wine and soda. A permit for the beer and wine has been obtained; however, we are asking attendees to stay within the tented area if they are consuming beverages with alcohol during the event.

As always there is no admission cost for BID stakeholders. We look forward to seeing you this evening to broaden the networking opportunities for our businesses with Waukesha County Business Alliance stakeholders. Should we experience inclement weather, please note that the entire event venue, including the jazz band with members coming from as far as the Chicago area, will transfer to Magellan's M2. We are deeply appreciative to Dan Italiano for extending us this flexibility.

Looking forward to seeing you tonight!

2013...

Time to go Racine or Oak Creek...

Crime and punishment

See you tonight? There is a BID/WCBA event there too and the rain out /alternative spot is Magellan's.

So simple without drama...

Turns restricted.

More detail on Fiesta Waukesha.

Spying on neighbors...

Gregg's column

No SOUND OFF today

A peek at Save and Save...

(BTW, 453 project is delayed again because the state planner wants a firewall on the west side; the solution is simple but re-submissions waste time.)

Too much work...

Huh...

Poor pup, he is all confused...

Lost and found...

For the shoes people...

Just in case you need these...

Cuteness for the day...

Freeman is posting later and later, it went from 6am to 6:30am, to 7am yesterday and now 6:45am... it gives me a lot of time to surf the web...

my work is done here... I go now...

6.19.12

UPDATE:

It is combat pay... Is it gonna be the next Scri-Drama topic when the mayor returns from Harvard? Note the mayor did get his own raises as well... ( I did not know there is a residency requirement in Waukesha to do one's job...)

The county chairman... and the job...

More cost saving?

It is for auction...

Get it done...

POLICE BLOTTER

Fiesta Waukesha
...

Brien saw Katie and Andy there... He had been busy...

Erik too... 1 and 2

Dog Walk meeting is also today... My schedule won't allow me to attend... sorry.

Bike race this coming Sunday...

Ms. Kool brought home a champion over the weekend. Nikko the whippet did very well at the UKC Premier and came in second as the reserve champion of all the whippets there. It is pretty kool consider he just turned one year old. AKC is next...

Alexandra
and Jacob had a lovely wedding on Saturday. The sky cleared up just perfect for the outdoor ceremony. Congrats to Mr. and Mrs Thomas...

The art opening also went well. We raised some money for the Epilepsy therapy project. The crowd was pretty respectable for a non-Art Crawl opening... Next art reception is July 7th with Carroll art grad Kate, and the donation will go to the Women's Center of Waukesha!

(Ms. Kool will attend the Danger Girl House Party featuring Gray Vacation on 7.7.12 instead...)

I am also working on the "Nipple Show" for the coming May of 2013. I think it should be a juried show with Mr. Nipple Gate as the honorary judge. There is a one nipple minimum for the artworks and I do hope to raise some more money for the Riverwalk for Breast Cancer...

Have a good day, folks...

Saturday, June 16, 2012

Live blogging from Shay's art show.

Shay and models...

Models and the guitar...

6.16.12

WFFNL was pretty active last night, thanks to this beautiful weather. I had the front row seat at Alexa's rehearsal dinner at Gen 5. Her wedding is today and I will have the honor of officiating it.

Get on with it already...

There needs to be a law passed and we can call it Lexi's law.

Look at those eyes... HBR wants that pup!

The plan...

Hmmm... here is more debate...

Sonia has a thought...

Shake up at schools...

Can we say this is some sort of Happy Ending?

Whoa...

These are so bad and I can not stop watching them!!!

See you tonight at the art opening!

I wonder how good can this pizza be?

Kendal Lofts update

This is what we called DE-FENCE at the West End.

6.13.12

O'Brien's is coming down soon and I confirmed it with Ken from Kendal Lofts that it will NOT look like anything like the videos above... That means WTC's windows are safe... ;)

One mayor goes one way, the other goes to Harvard...

( Did you notice? Lack of Scri-Drama means no SOUND OFF for two consecutive days! Is this what PEACE ON MAIN feel like?)

He actually graduated from the regular Harvard with a real degree with honor...

Gregg's column.

Darryl's column.

:( for Erik...

What would you do for a Summerfest ticket?

Made the Salvation Army PR....

This is pretty neat.

The king will live again!

( Isn't that a Gibson Elvis' playing?)

Rochester Deli rocks... Just feel like saying that... Might have that salad again today...

Barry will be doing a project with Bosco's soon... More detail to come...

6.12.12

Brien started a new blog on Guitar Town! His regular entries 1 and 2.

This PR piece is gonna be tough for some to read... I still hope the steering committee will look at the event honestly and see all the missed opportunities like working with the Guitar Center, the practice of asking "rent" to some merchants and not to some, instead of giving each other high fives. The street's assessment is not as kind...

This person better turns oneself in because the hunt is on... My sympathy to the poor woman as a dog lover myself.

Coffee talk on West Bypass.

Erik had some yard work done?

POLICE BLOTTER jumbo pack!

Nice photo of the P-51s!

Bonus reading via Jenn's tweet.

More on the radiation hoax story, now this is stretching a bit...

Did you sign up for the private artist reception this Saturday yet???!!! This is going to be a quick 2 weeks show and the next show is coming on July 7th!

Best of 2012- First Half
Fascinating...
Its been a fascinating first half of 2012. The projects that have come to me have been diverse: some huge, some educational, some painful, all inspired and fuuuuun!! Here are some of the greatest Hits... ;)
Green Ribbon
The Green Ribbon reflects the wonders of our natural environment - beginning with the Earth's core and stretching through the solar system. May you see the power of your interconncetedness to the web of life and be moved by the beauty of art and our natural world onto a visionary path to a restorative future.
green Ribbon
Juli Kaufmann owner of Fix Milwaukee and Sandra Priebe, visionary & amazing women, commissioned this original work of art for The Clock Shadow Building.

We began the design process a year before ground broke on the building located at 130 W Bruce Street in Walkers Point. The structure is a design by Continuum Architects and Planners owned by Ursula Twombly, another key player in the forward progress of Milwaukee. The building utilizes sustainable power & materials with community based tenants.

From one inspired oil painting that visually captures the importance of sustainability & the environment, interior & exterior signage, educational panels, directories, & vibrant relevant art on various materials were designed and reproduced to create a powerful, clear, and meaningful experience for all who enjoy the space. The most dramatic is the 75 foot 'Ribbon' that is suspended between the ceiling and floor.

The Clockshadow Building is home to Clockshadow Creamery, Purple door Organic Icecream, Core El Centro, The Healing Center, Attorneys, and an Aurora Clinic......you can do yoga on the Rooftop Garden!
Green Ribbon II
Join us in celebrating the building, the tenants, the art, the neighborhood on June 21st! Tours 330-5, Grand Opening Program 530-6, Block party and tours continue 6-8pm.
Local Music, Food, & Beer from Milwaukee Brewing Company!

CS Grand Opening Invite
Clutch
Clutch is a brand-spankin-new Tapas Bar @ 1504 E North Ave in Milwuakees East side...
The Grand Opening was Last Thursday & the food, ambiance, and service have been excellent.

This 13' piece, Clutch, was commissioned to set off the amazing interior designed by PCI, great friends and partners in crime on many projects! Added to the finish is blood of 3 people....installing was the painful part.

SongBird
My 10' Gibson Guitar

I was one of the 10 artists chosen to paint a 10' fiberglass guitar fabricated by Gibson. I chose to adorn, embellish, deconstruct, and sculpt mine. The message I hoped to convey was realized in her creation. SongBird is the two-sided story of most musicians and artists, the face often glamorous and inspiring while behind the scenes there are the sleepless nights & often tortured reality of long hours, travel, physical effort, and huge outputs of mental energy.

The front of SongBird is the showy side: bright, juicy, and star studded while her back is sculpted of razor sharp torched wings, imbedded spikes, gears, carved bone, barbed-wire and a 4 armed coo-coo clock. She has blood and sweat but no tears on her beautiful 'reality' side.

Waukesha, the home of Les Paul, is the Worlds newest Guitar Town, joining the ranks with Nashville and LA. SongBird, the other 10' guitars and 17 playable ones were sponsored by local businesses and are on display as public art. She was deemed 'to dangerous' for the sidewalk & now gets to play indoors with the very appropriate and fun Waukesha Tattoo Company who sponsored her! George Wang and the amazing group of artists at WaukeshaTattooCompany, some painted playable guitars, are always my number one recommendation when anyone needs a super tattoo.

songbird back
When SongBird was delivered to MarshallAutoBody in Waukesha for her automotive finish my job was over...then I shed tears.
I want to thank everyone at Marshall Auto Body, Lynn Gaffey & the other organizers of the Waukesha Guitar Town, my kids for putting up with a tired cold Mom, Ben and JP at PCI for the rad new base, and especially George and Waukesha Tattoo Co who sponsored Songbird & are constant supporters.....I had a ton of fun and its so amazing to see what all the artists came up with in just 2 MONTHS!!

Let's all remember too focus on what we have in common with each-other & appreciate each-other's differences....with a good dose of respect and an extra heap of gratitude our World will heal and be a better place. Go Rock This Summer!
